Georg Albert Ruthenberg, better known by the stage name Pat Smear, is an American musician and actor. Pat Smear later joined Dave Grohl to form Foo Fighters in late 1994, and left in fall 1997, rejoining as a full time member in 2010 to record Wasting Light. Pat started his career in The Germs, the legendary L.A. punk band founded by him and Darby Crash in '77. Pat Smear was a comparative unknown in the early ‘90s, at least to grunge-loving teens tuned into the sounds emitting from the Pacific Northwest.
